Activities: Enjoy horseback riding, turtle spotting, and in-house massages, all easily accessible through our trusted contacts. Perfect Balance: Maderas offers a serene and remote environment, ideal for relaxation and free from overdevelopment. Yet, it remains close enough to San Juan del Sur for errands and outings. There is a shuttle bus station 2 mins from Casa Tranquilo that runs to San Juan and back multiple times a day. While the trip takes 1/2 hour, it makes all the towns amenities and events affordably accessible. While either myself or a co-host may sometimes be staying in the house, there may be times when we're away. Rest assured, we manage house operations, security, and cleaning services daily with the help of our staff—no matter where we are. We’ve also automated many processes for self check-in and check-out, providing you with the information you need to operate independently during your stay. Of course, we’re always reachable through the Airbnb app, for any reason including a chat about the tide. We monitor messages continually to ensure everything runs smoothly. Finally, we regularly update our guidebook so that you can benefit from our experiences here—whether you’re looking to enjoy fresh coconuts, delicious ceviches, or easy local transportation without hassle. Casa Slowmad features four spacious private rooms, each with its own entrance, bathroom, storage, bed, and workstation. Outside each room, you'll find your dedicated deck space complete with a hammock, tea table, and rocking chairs. The common areas—including the kitchen, living room, and chill-out zones—are shared with fellow guests, so you'll have the opportunity to meet others. We encourage you to be comfortable with this communal approach during your stay. Use the house as a stepping stone to join the vibrant Maderas Valley community. Casa Slowmad is not a luxury nature retreat but a simple, beautiful room in Nicaragua, combining epic views with modern amenities inside a large shared house that has been brought to you by those who cherish being at the end of the unbeaten path. Living in Nicaragua also means occasional interruptions in water, Wi-Fi, and electricity. Power outages usually last less than a few hours, but the nearby hotel provides solar-powered Wi-Fi. We're in the process of adding a battery bank to keep the Wi-Fi running smoothly during these outages. And of course during the rainy season (August to December) a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for navigating the hill. Our charming house has many stairs and is situated in a very hilly neighborhood. You'll need to hike these hills to access the beach, the machete market and Hush . This makes it unsuitable for those with accessibility needs. A new boutique hotel is currently being built next to us. So far, the construction activities have not been disruptive, though they have altered what was once part of the pristine jungle nearby. We work closely with the hotel owners to ensure a harmonious coexistence. On the bright side, once the hotel opens, it will provide our guests with a touch of added luxury. We maintain quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM to ensure a peaceful environment for everyone. In Nicaragua, services are always honored, though not necessarily in the timeframe you might expect. At our house, we strive to provide the level of service we would expect ourselves. However, it's important to adjust your expectations and embrace the local pace. Here, being called "Tranquilo" is a compliment. So, remember to order your food at any restaurant before you get too hungry and reach out to us about timely needs right away, so that we can get on it.
